Southampton

Located along the shoreline of Lake Huron, Southampton is known for its unique marine heritage and its small town charm. A population of just over 3,000 the town is now part of the Municipality of Saugeen Shores.

The shining waters of Lake Huron and its sandy beaches are an attractive backdrop to the more practical aspects of day-to-day living: schools, health care, municipal services, recreational activities and programs, safe neighbourhoods, shopping and, of course, an affordable lifestyle!

FYI

Founded by Captains John Spence and William Kennedy as a trading and fishing post in 1848 and incorporated by an act of Parliament on July 24, 1858, Southampton is named after England's famous seacoast town, with the High (main) Street and charming houses and cottages along tree-lined streets.

A centre for the arts, Southampton boasts both a Summer Art School (the oldest in Ontario) and an Arts Society, Summer Music, Shoreline Artists, art shows and more.

Fly fishing for rainbow trout and salmon at the mouth of the mighty Saugeen River is a spectacular challenge.
